British American Tobacco express their condolences to the family of Sir Nicholas Scheele

The board of British American Tobacco, the management team and all the company's employees today express their condolences to the family of Sir Nicholas Scheele. Sir Nicholas was a member of the British American Tobacco board from 2005 until 2013, most recently as Senior Independent Director.

"We will always remember Nick's humour, incisive business commentary, sound commercial judgement and the careful way he would get to the heart of a business problem. His very sad passing is a loss to so many" said British American Tobacco's Chairman, Richard Burrows.

Nicandro Durante, Chief Executive Officer added, "Nick was a huge presence on our board. He will be missed by all who knew him at British American Tobacco. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this most difficult of times."
