A robust process
BAT is a leading, multi-category consumer goods business. Our purpose is to build a better tomorrow by reducing the health impact of our business through offering a greater choice of enjoyable and less risky products for our consumers. Our ambition is to increasingly transition our revenues from cigarettes to non-combustible products over time.
We have been producing independently assured reports for more than a decade and believe this long history of reporting demonstrates a serious commitment to transparency, corporate responsibility and sustainability.
Our sustainability reporting aims to provide focused and integrated sustainability communications for our stakeholders across different formats. Our suite of reporting includes an annual Sustainability Strategy Report, an ESG Report, issue-specific Focus Reports, a Gender Pay Report and a Modern Slavery Statement. Details of other key issues and activities can be found throughout this website and in our Annual Report.
An independent review of our sustainability reporting is an important element of helping stakeholders place trust in our processes and in what we report, and supports our commitment to openness and transparency. Our Independent Stakeholder Panel comments on the materiality of our Sustainability Strategy Report and provides a collective opinion on BAT’s performance, while we provide a response to their statement as part of our commitment to continuous improvement. Corporate Citizenship provide limited assurance of selected ESG data in our 2019 ESG Report (3.8 mb) .
Our annual Sustainability Strategy Report covers our key focus areas and performance for the year – the most recent of which, Putting Sustainability Front and Centre, was published in March 2020.
Performance data, and progress against our goals can be found in our 2019 ESG Report (3.8 mb) .
Our Sustainability Focus Reports on specific-topics provide stakeholders with more in-depth information on the areas that interest them most, including our most recent report on Harm Reduction, published in December 2018.
