BAT progresses COVID-19 candidate vaccine into Phase I human clinical trials
BAT’s US Bio-tech arm, Kentucky BioProcessing (KBP) today announced plans to commence a Phase I first-time-in-human study of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate following approval of its Investigational New Drug application by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Enrolment for the study is expected to begin shortly.

The report coincides with UN Human Rights Day and highlights the company’s commitment and actions to protect human rights across its global business and supply chain. BAT has also announced a commitment to aim for zero child labour in its agricultural supply chain by 2025.

We are pleased to announce that Luc Jobin will succeed Richard Burrows as Chairman of British American Tobacco p.l.c. (BAT). This will take effect from the conclusion of the Company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 28 April 2021 and, in order to ensure an effective transition of the leadership of the Board, Mr Jobin will be appointed as Chairman Designate of BAT effective 1 March 2021.

If testing goes well, BAT is hopeful that, with the right partners and support from government agencies, between 1 and 3 million doses of the vaccine could be manufactured per week, beginning in June.
