uk bat.com - Electronic shareholder communications

You can receive documents via the internet, rather than through the post. This is a faster, more friendly for the environment and, for British American Tobacco, a more cost effective way for shareholders to receive Annual Reports, and other documents, as soon as they are available.

You can request to receive all future communications electronically by completing the electronic shareholder communication sign up forms provided by Computershare Investor Services PLC Opens in new window.

In order to sign up for electronic shareholder communications, you will need your Shareholder Reference Number or SRN as well as your registered address details.

You will also be asked to agree to the terms and conditions of the service. You should read these carefully, as they will set out the basis on which shareholder communications will be sent to you.

Why ‘e-communications’?
Current legislation enables companies to communicate with their shareholders electronically. This means that information can be received and accessed by shareholders more quickly and efficiently. Furthermore, the environment is likely to benefit from a reduction in the printing and packaging associated with shareholder communications, particularly the Annual Report.

Do I require any special equipment to receive shareholder communications electronically?
You will need a computer linked to the internet together with an email address and a web browser (such as the one you are using to read this page). Many of British American Tobacco’s shareholder communications are downloaded in a PDF format to enable easy printing.  You can download Adobe Acrobat Reader using a link that can be found on many pages on bat.com.

How will I know when shareholder information is available to read and/or download?
Each time British American Tobacco issues or mails a shareholder communication (such as the Annual Report and Notice of the Annual General Meeting) you will be sent an email alert or notification containing a link to the relevant documents.

British American Tobacco reserves the right to continue to send any future communications to shareholders in paper form, irrespective of any election made, whenever the Board considers it necessary to do so.

What if I wish to continue to receive printed documents?
Whilst we would encourage you to consider the benefits of ‘e-communications’, the Company realises that electronic shareholder communications are not for everyone. Therefore if you want to continue to receive printed copies of documents (such as the Annual Report and Notice of Meeting) you need take no action.

If you do register for ‘e-communications’ you will at any time be able to change your details so that you my receive shareholder communications in paper form by post. If you require additional printed copies of shareholder documents please contact:
