British American Tobacco Australia is one of our largest companies, with a local market share of over 45 per cent. The company’s Sydney office also serves as the head office for British American Tobacco Australasia, which covers Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific Islands.

In the Australasia area, there are more than 2,200 employees, over half of whom are based in Australia. Some 18 billion cigarettes a year are produced across manufacturing sites in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, the Solomon Islands and Samoa.

In 2010, British American Tobacco Australia contributed A$767,000 (£456,037) in corporate social investment, with a further £290,918 contributed by the rest of the Australasia area.


Australia’s performance against some of our key measures can been seen in its balanced scorecard. The company has achieved the Group target of 100 per cent adherence to our International Marketing Standards. It also met the Group target for succession coverage in the short term, with 100 per cent coverage for each senior position in the business unit.
