As a responsible tobacco company we are committed to producing high quality tobacco products which comply fully with the regulations of the countries in which they are intended for sale.
As part of our research activities, we provide relevant product science and actual product assessments of the components, materials and ingredients used in the manufacture of our products.
To maintain quality and consistency, we specify the input materials and use blending techniques to manage the variability of tobacco, which is a feature of any organic crop.
Nicotine and tar yields of our cigarette products are regularly monitored (as measured under standard laboratory conditions) to ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements. Where required, nicotine and tar yields are published on our cigarette packs.
Laboratory accreditation
We believe that all laboratories – whether owned by us, governments or third parties – should work to the same internationally recognised standards, particularly when scientific data is used for tobacco regulatory purposes. This helps to ensure that all data can be trusted, regardless of source.
Our companies’ laboratories work to high standards and many have scientific methods accredited against ISO standards. Regular external audits take place to ensure they continue to operate to these high standards.
