Our 2011 Sustainability Report received notable recognition at the annual Corporate Register Reporting Awards (CRRA), achieving top ten global ranking in four of the nine categories: 8th for Best Report, 4th for Relevance & Materiality, 10th for Openness & Honesty, 7th for Credibility through Assurance.
2012

Selected for the 11th successive year in the 2012 Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes, scored on economic, social and environmental performance.

Ranked in the top 25 per cent of companies in Transparency International's "Transparency in Corporate Reporting: Assessing the World's Largest Companies" study. British American Tobacco were awarded a score of 6.1 out of 10, placing us 23rd out of 105 companies. We scored 81 per cent in anti-corruption reporting and 100 per cent in organisational transparency.

Featured in the Carbon Disclosure Project’s Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index, with a score of 86 per cent. This index highlights those companies in the FTSE 350 Index that have shown the most professional approach to managing and disclosing their climate change impacts. High scores indicate that senior management understands the business issues related to climate change and is building climate related risks and opportunities into the core business.

Received a Platinum rating in the UK Business in the Community Corporate Responsibility Index. We are the first tobacco company to reach Platinum status and one of only nine new entrants in the Platinum sector during 2009.

Ranked third out of the FTSE100 companies in the Ethical Bonus Index 2007, compiled by Intelligent Giving on how companies enable staff to donate to charity, including allowing time off for volunteering, matching donations and running a ‘payroll giving’ service.

Achieved a Gold ranking in the ‘Companies that Count 2007’ list of the UK’s 100 most responsible companies, published by the Sunday Times and based on the Business in the Community Corporate Responsibility Index.
