No. Shares in B.A.T Industries were replaced with shares in both British American Tobacco p.l.c. and Allied Zurich p.l.c., following the demerger of the B.A.T Industries financial services in September 1998. At the demerger, every two shares held in B.A.T Industries p.l.c. were replaced with one new share in British American Tobacco p.l.c. and one new share in Allied Zurich p.l.c. Shareholders were sent their new share certificates shortly after the demerger.
